Plan my Shanghai trip
Free Trip Planning, Private Tours and Airport Transfers
Every trip we arrange is built around your flights rather than a fixed departure time. Tell us when you land, when you leave and what you would like to see, and we will send back an itinerary that fits. Planning is free — you only pay if you want us to drive or guide you.
Free itinerary planning
Send us your dates and we will map out what genuinely fits, in the right order, with travel times between stops. This is the part most guides charge for and most travellers get wrong: it is easy to write down six attractions, and hard to notice they are ninety minutes apart. We will also tell you when your plan is too ambitious, which is more useful than agreeing with you.
Private guided tours
A private guide who meets you at the airport or your hotel, in your language, and takes the navigation off your hands. Good if the group includes children or anyone with limited mobility, if the weather has collapsed, or if you simply do not want to spend a layover reading metro signs. Groups stay small and the route stays yours — if you want to spend an extra hour in Yu Garden, you spend it.
Airport transfers
Point-to-point transfers to and from Pudong (PVG) and Hongqiao (SHA), with the driver meeting you in arrivals holding a sign. Child seats on request. Worth booking when you land late, when you are carrying luggage for a family, or when a missed connection is expensive.
How it works
Message us on WhatsApp or through the form with your flight times and what you want out of the trip. We reply with a proposed itinerary and, if you have asked for a guide or a transfer, a price. Nothing is charged while we are still talking. When you are happy, we send a secure card payment link — you pay by card, we confirm, and you get the final details in writing before you travel.
What it costs
Tours and transfers are quoted per trip rather than sold off a shelf, because a family of five with an eleven-hour layover and a couple with four hours need different things. The quote covers the guide or driver, the vehicle, and any entrance fees we have agreed in advance, and we tell you what is not included before you pay.
Languages
We work in English, Spanish, German, French and Russian, as well as Chinese. Tell us which you would prefer when you get in touch and we will match the guide accordingly.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a private Shanghai tour cost?
It is quoted per trip, based on how long you have, how many of you there are and what you want to see. Send us your flight times and we will come back with a price and an itinerary — there is no charge for the quote.
Is the trip planning really free?
Yes. We plan itineraries for free whether or not you book a guide or a transfer. It is how most of our customers find us.
How do I pay?
Once we have agreed a price we send a secure card payment link. You pay by card, and you get written confirmation of the booking details afterwards.
Can you meet us at Pudong Airport?
Yes. Guides and drivers meet you in the arrivals hall with a sign showing your name, at both Pudong and Hongqiao.
How far in advance should I book?
A few days is usually enough, and we can often arrange something at shorter notice. Public holidays are the exception — Chinese New Year and the October national holiday fill up early.
